Fine and rare, heavy 16th century gold signet ring with the arms of the Kemp family, English circa 1550

The wide D shaped band with “pearled” decoration and an applied shield shaped cartouche seal engraved with the Kemp arms.

This form of 16th century ring is very rare - for similar see Dalton, Catalogue of the Finger Rings…….. in the British Museum, published 1912, numbers 460 (now AF.714) and 461 (now AF.715)
