Sold - Pair of grape brooches
Pair of antique coloured glass and diamond vine brooches attributed to Fonsèque et Olive, France c.1890
Mounted in gold and silver, with French marks but the maker’s mark is too weak to read. I have little doubt they are by Fonsèque et Olive - the design was presented in 1889 and was a veritable success.
It is very nice to see a pair, the red one is rather rare as one usually finds the green
M. Olive was a talented designer and had worked for the renowned Parisian goldsmith and jeweller, Lucien Falize, before going into partnership with the M. Fonsèque in 1885
