Antique cornelian intaglio of Pandora with her box signed ΣΟΣΟΚΛΕ (Sosokles) by Giovanni Calandrelli (Italian, 1784 - 1853), mounted in an early 19th century gold ring

Whilst the gem is engraved, like many Poniatowski gems, with a spurious signature, the original sketch is held by the Berlin Museum (reproduced here courtesy of the Beazley Archive and Antikensammlung Berlin: A.VI.39)
